Max Michel Gives Back To The Youth At His Junior Clinics In Georgia and Idaho
Michel uses his position within the competitive shooting world to give back to worthy organizations that are near and dear to his heart. As a young junior shooter, Michel was extremely passionate about the sport, but didn’t have many people his same age with which to share it with. While he enjoyed being around the “older crowd” for their insights and wisdom, he was always searching for that peer to whom he could relate.
Max Michael Is Dedicated To The Sport
Once Michel reached a point in his career where he could help others, he wanted to give back to the sport and create the environment he longed for in his youth. In the early 2000s, Michel created the Max Michel Junior Clinic near his home in Ft. Benning, GA. MGM Targets stepped up within a few years and offered their support and people for the Clinic. They now produce and manage the event in Parma, ID where Michel continues to be a lead instructor at the camp every year.
Whether it’s on the field, in front of a camera, or on the range with future shooters, Michel has made the sport of competitive shooting his life.

Max Michel Helps SIG Sauer Develop Competitive Gun Offerings
Born on December 15, 1981, Max Michel was raised in New Orleans, LA. Growing up he enjoyed many sports, but it was in 1991 that he discovered his passion for shooting when his father introduced him to the competitive sport of Practical Shooting. In the years that followed, Michel proceeded to shatter most of the records held by the top juniors in the nation. It was at this point that the famed US Army Marksmanship Unit (USAMU) took notice.
Based at Ft. Benning in Georgia, the USAMU is renowned for taking young shooters developing them into National and World Champions in a variety of disciplines. Michel’s prominence in the Practical Shooting arena made him a top recruit for the USAMU’s Action Pistol Team and in 1999 he began his career as an Army shooter and trainer.
During his 10 year US Army career, Staff Sergeant Michel’s duties included serving as the Military Coach of the Action Pistol Team. He was responsible through his training programs for insuring the combat readiness of soldiers fighting the Global War on Terrorism. Utilizing his vast competitive shooting experience, Michel developed one of the most dynamic training programs for today’s soldier and elite warrior.
Today, Michel is involved with several key segments of the SIG Sauer business, as well as many of his other partners.
