So AGI created The Gun Club of America (GCA). It stands upon four pillars: education, fun, savings and fellowship.

AGI American Gunsmithing Institute In Coto De Caza, CA Has Over Two Decades Of Experience

Two decades ago, American Gunsmithing Institute (AGI) Founder and President Gene Kelly saw an increased demand for gunsmiths in the firearms industry in Coto De Caza, CA and realized  that there was a growing need to train new gunsmiths on a faster and more efficient basis.

With over 330 million firearms in this country, at any given time 10 to 20 percent of those are in some need of cleaning, repair or customizing. After WWII, a large crop of new gunsmiths appeared, but now they are retiring or passing away and demand for new,Gene Kelley, Founder AGI young blood in the gunsmith world in Coto De Caza, CA is growing. 

Gunsmithing Programs Offered Across the Country

Prior to AGI’s founding, gunsmithing programs were only offered in Coto De Caza, CA at a couple of campus based schools and most people could not afford to attend them so the number of gunsmiths continued to decline.

This gave Kelly the idea to found AGI. Using Master Gunsmith Bob Dunlap’s teaching methodology, combined with the video techniques developed by AGI, Kelly was able to create a unique teaching method that allowed students to learn at home in Coto De Caza, CA at their own pace. And thus, AGI was born. Since its inception in 1993, AGI has gone on to use this same method to teach people welding, machining, locksmithing and other trade skills.

Coto De Caza, CA Coto de Caza Golf & Racquet Club is the first private 36-hole country club in Orange County. In addition to the two courses designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr., the Club also offers a 44,000-square-foot clubhouse, a racquet club with 10 courts and an aquatic center with three pools.

Nestled away in the heart of Coto de Caza is your perfect home-away-from-home, the private Coto de Caza Golf & Racquet Club.

Offering golf, tennis, spa and social memberships, the Club is the first private 36-hole country club in Orange County and one of only three in metropolitan Southern California. The Club includes a 44,000-square-foot craftsman-style clubhouse, two 18-hole golf courses designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr., a racquet club and an aquatics center. The North Course was built in 1987, and is rated one of the nation's top 25 courses. Coto de Caza Golf & Racquet Club recently opened the doors to a new $7-million, 13,000-square-foot spa and sports club.

In addition to a strong 20-year reputation, Coto de Caza Golf & Racquet Club has more amenities than any other Orange County country club.

Due to an increased demand for M1911 pistols among Army Special Operations units, who are known to field a variety of M1911 pistols, the Army Marksmanship Unit began looking to develop a new generation of M1911s and launched the M1911-A2 project in late 2004

Coto De Caza, CA  Currently, there are two 18-hole golf courses and two clubhouses, one considered the "Historic Club" and the other, the "New Club". The Historic Club, officially named Coto Valley Country Club, was once home to tennis guru and teacher Vic Braden during the 1980s.

It was also a popular watering hole for local actor and cowboy, John Wayne. He entertained many of his famous Hollywood friends at Coto Valley Country Club. It was purchased in 2015 by local resident and popular event planner, Kenney Paul Hrabik. It was given a complete make over and is now a very popular wedding venue and sports and swim club.

It has continued to embrace its rich equestrian history and historic charm it has always been known for. It was also the original home location for the Coto de Caza Youth Swim Team, known as the Swordfish.

The New Club, officially named the Coto De Caza Golf & Racquet Club, harbors the facilities of both golf courses and adjacent ten tennis courts. Coto de Caza Golf & Racquet Club finished construction of the new Spa & Sports Club building in April 2008.

After the construction upgrade, the facility now houses a new fitness center with state-of-the-art StarTrac exercise equipment, a full-service spa, a snack bar with Starbucks coffee, and the Michael Chang Tennis Hall of Fame and Member Lounge.

The golf courses are both of Robert Trent Jones Jr. design. The North course was rated one the most difficult golf course in all of Orange County. Specifically holding honors with the notorious dog-leg right 1st Hole.

The development of the .50 BMG round is sometimes confused with the German13.2 mm TuF, which was developed by Germany for ananti-tank rifleto combat British tanks during WWI.
