This gave Kelly the idea to found AGI. And thus, AGI was born. Since its inception in 1993, AGI has gone on to use this same method to teach people welding, machining, locksmithing and other trade skills.

Gualala, CA, Well, it's a name that's hard to pronounce and even harder to spell. Sometimes it's hard to remember. Some people call it gwa-LA-la, but the natives call it wa-LA-la. This comes from the Kashaya Pomo Indian phrase, "ah kha wa la lee" which means, "Where the water flows down", which makes sense--for the river goes out to the ocean right across from the center of town, right by that big sand bar where the whales stop for lunch every year.

It's up on the coast of California, north of San Francisco a ways. Not a big place, like some of those expensive resort areas. But, you know, once you've been to Gualala you'll never forget the wonderful times you had there. You'd love it. Use the links at the top of the page to look around and get to know the place.

Gualala from the air Say! Let's go right now and I'll show you what you've missed. Even just talking about it I can smell that clean salt air and see the whales and seals. I don't know what it is about that area that always seems so calm and natural. I come home feeling like I've found a special private retreat where I can always go when I need to just relax, kick back and have fun. Me and the beach, the redwood trees, and a few whales playing offshore. No boss. No noisy neighbors. No smog.

And we love the people. They're so calm and happy. I swear it's infectious. I come home smiling like I just won the lottery. And you know, in a way I guess I did. I don't know why I never notice sunsets at home, for instance. But up there. Wow! They have this thing called a green flash during a sunset. At first I thought they were pulling my leg. But it's really true. We saw one and even got a picture of it!

So, are you packed yet and ready to start exploring? I just can't wait to go back! Come on! Let's go!

Gat (Slang): A Gat is a term used to describe a pistol for drive by shootings, robberies violence and other gangbanger activities. The term gat was popularized in the gangsta rap era of the 80s and 90s, and generally, its accepted that Gat came into being surrounding the first five years of the Glock Pistols on American soil. It gained more notoriety as more and more rappers used the term to describe their (often sideways held) pistol during the commission of crimes.

Gualala, CA, About 1861 tourists began coming to Gualala to hunt and fish and get away from the crowded cities. Around that same time Cyrus Robinson filed a homestead for all of the area which is now Gualala where they built a hotel, a saloon and a ferry. They also supervised the Post Office (which was also the stage stop), the Wells Fargo Express and the Western Union. By the end of the 1800s Gualala had become a major commercial hub for the entire area with a dancing school, the Gualala Municipal Brass Band, and an Opera House.

In 1902, Elizabeth Robinson, Cyrus' wife, died; and their hotel burned down in a fire the following year. The hotel was later rebuilt to the south of where it had originally been at a cost of $6,000.

In 1907, Mark Pedotti and Antonio Ciapusci bought the Gualala Hotel property which included 636 acres and among them they divided the property with Antonio acquiring the area of Gualala who later died in 1932. His son George and wife, Ida inherited the land after his death.

Today tourists come to nearby Sea Ranch, California for which Gualala is providing tourist and commercial services.
