So AGI created The Gun Club of America (GCA). It stands upon four pillars: education, fun, savings and fellowship.
AGI Teaches Basic and Advanced Firearms Maintenance, Customizing, and Gunsmithing Repair for hobbyist and Professional. Study at home and get Certified as a Gunsmith.
AGI American Gunsmithing Institute In Selma, CA Has Over Two Decades Of Experience
Two decades ago, American Gunsmithing Institute (AGI) Founder and President Gene Kelly saw an increased demand for gunsmiths in the firearms industry in Selma, CA and realized that there was a growing need to train new gunsmiths on a faster and more efficient basis.
Kelly made it a goal to preserve the art of gunsmithing for future generations and to provide a way for gun enthusiasts in Selma, CA to pursue their hobbies from the comfort of their own homes through AGI’s course load.
With over 330 million firearms in this country, at any given time 10 to 20 percent of those are in some need of cleaning, repair or customizing. After WWII, a large crop of new gunsmiths appeared, but now they are retiring or passing away and demand for new, young blood in the gunsmith world in Selma, CA is growing.
Gunsmithing Programs Offered Across the Country
Prior to AGI’s founding, gunsmithing programs were only offered in Selma, CA at a couple of campus based schools and most people could not afford to attend them so the number of gunsmiths continued to decline.
This gave Kelly the idea to found AGI. Using Master Gunsmith Bob Dunlap’s teaching methodology, combined with the video techniques developed by AGI, Kelly was able to create a unique teaching method that allowed students to learn at home in Selma, CA at their own pace. And thus, AGI was born. Since its inception in 1993, AGI has gone on to use this same method to teach people welding, machining, locksmithing and other trade skills.

Selma, CA , Selma is a rapidly growing community of over 23,000, located in the central San Joaquin Valley.
Selma is widely known for its small town charm as well as its big city development. Team Selma, an economic development partnership comprised of public and private entities, spreads the welcome mat for potential business owners and developers with phenomenal results.
Selma’s location, at the crossroads of State Routes 99 and 43, makes it a regional hub for southeast Fresno County as well as neighboring Tulare and Kings Counties. Selma has an industrial space available for most any type of business and industrial land available for development.
Both new and long-time residents are discovering and rediscovering the joys of living in this delightful community. Selma provides an ideal location for shopping in its beautiful downtown and other shopping centers. Many new car dealerships also add to its appeal.
Countless events offered through the City, the Chamber of Commerce, schools, churches and other community groups make Selma a great place to live, work and play.
It needs to be said often: even these "common sense" measures overwhelmingly violate the rights of those who would never, ever use their weapons to harm anyone far more than they contribute to public safety.
Selma, CA Like many other American cities, Selma suffered a decline in its old downtown in the late decades of the 20th century and into the 21st century. Post-World War II development spread the growing city to the north and east, away from its business center. U.S. Highway 99 (demoted to State Route 99 in the 1960s), once a main road north and south through town, running parallel to the railroad, was rebuilt as a freeway in the 1960s.
Several blocks to the west of the old road (now Whitson Street and Golden State Boulevard), the freeway bisects the oldest residential neighborhood in Selma. Freeway travel made the new shopping malls of Fresno more accessible. The freeway also made Selma more attractive as a place to live for Fresno workers, who contributed to ever-faster residential growth into the 21st century.
The downtown experienced one of its biggest changes when Wal-Mart corporation built one of its giant retail stores at the intersection of East Floral Avenue and the freeway—at the northwest edge of town. As the 21st century began, this area became the de facto commercial center of the city providing great economic benefits. The old downtown, despite vacant storefronts, remained a struggling but viable district of city offices and small businesses.
We hear a lot about gun deaths in the United States, but we hear less often the fact that the great majority of those deaths are suicides more than two-thirds of them. Which is to say, the great majority of our gun death incidents are not conventional crimes but intentionally self-inflicted wounds: private despair, not blood in the streets.
