Bloomingdale, IL, The village purchased its 1st marked police car and the Bloomingdale Fire Protection District 1 was founded in 1954, the same year indoor plumbing came to Village Hall. Bloomingdale's population almost quadrupled from 338 in 1950 to 1,262 in 1960. By 1976, a special census counted the village's population at nearly 10,000.

Today with a population of nearly 22,000, Bloomingdale boasts a country-like environment carefully integrated with commercial, office and retail development. As a result, the community provides a wide variety of living, working, shopping and recreational opportunities built around a carefully preserved heritage.

Bloomingdale, IL,  Bloomingdale is one of the earliest villages settled in what is now DuPage County. The Meacham family settled here in 1833, and by the end of the following year, 12 to 15 families had settled in the locality. It was originally named Meacham's Grove. The community was served by the Chicago-Galena Highway, modern day Lake Street.

It became an important stop for stage coaches and westward travelers. Originally a Cook County settlement, it was annexed by DuPage in 1839, and incorporated as a village later that year. The northern part of the village wanted to develop commercially while the southern part wished to remain a farming community. In 1922, the village split to accommodate this the northern portion of the town was incorporated as Roselle. From 1950 to 1980, the population increased from 338 to 12,659.
