Dayton, NV ,Nevada has a preemption statute (NRS 244.364) which makes it illegal for any county, city, or town to enact more restrictive firearms legislation than that contained in the Nevada Revised Statutes.
It does allow cities and counties with over 400,000 residents to retain handgun registration laws enacted prior to 1989, but requires that they give residents 60 days in which to register a firearm after moving into that city or county, and 72 hours to register a newly purchased handgun. It also allows cities and counties to make laws prohibiting discharge of a firearm within certain areas.
Dayton, NV, Nevada is an “open carry” state. This means that under Nevada firearms law, anyone who's legally permitted to possess a gun may carry it openly (not concealed) anywhere where firearms are permitted.
For example, people may not carry firearms into courthouses. Nevada is also a “shall issue” state regarding carrying a concealed firearm. This means that the state is obligated to issue concealed firearm permits to people who take a firearms proficiency course.
