Dumas, TX, is located in Moore County in Texas. The small city has a population of only 14,691 people as of the 2010 census. Dumas is named after Louis Dumas who founded the city which is only 50 miles north of Armarillo Texas.

In Dumas city there is a little bit of everything for everyone. For those who enjoy art, you can visit the art center (which is free for everyone) and enjoy the work of local artists. For those who enjoy history you can visit the Moore county historical Museum which has been called a must-see by many visitors and locals. There you will find lots of old artifacts put on display from historical Moore County and see how the Texans before us lived. 

Dumas, TX, Not only is the city full of art and history, but Dumas doesn't lack in the nature department either. Lake Meredith is located only 30 miles outside of the city and brings in many visitors. The lake is known for its extremely blue water and limestone rock offering a gorgeous scenery. Many people will visit the lake for the day and enjoy boating, swimming, and fishing, while others may stay for few days at their campsite.

The city also claims the song by Phil Baxter named "I'm a ding dong daddy from Dumas" composed in the late 1920's  was written about the city. However, there is also a Dumas city located in Arkansas and argument still stands today as to whether the song was written for Texas or Arkansas.
