GASTONIA, NC, A Gaston County man was hospitalized after police say he was shot in the chest during an early-morning break-in at his home. Police were called out to a home on the 100 block of Kale Street in Gastonia around 1 a.m. Wednesday morning to reports of shots fired. When they arrived at the home, officers found Nicholas Jason Rhyne with gunshot wounds to the chest. This is prime example of why families need to armed with a firearm to protect themselves.

 GASTONIA, N.C., Two teens and another man are charged with a shooting and home invasion on Wednesday night. Officials say 16-year-old James Floyd, 17-year old Deonte Young and 21-year-old Ricky McCoy are charged with burglary and robbery with a dangerous weapon. Floyd faces an additional charge of assault with intent to kill.

It happened just before 11 p.m. on Davidson Avenue. Police say Floyd shot 55-year-old Harold Johnson multiple times while he was lying in bed. He was flown by helicopter to a Charlotte hospital. If only the victim was armed with a firearm he could have protected himself.
