Why have a gun for self-defense?, Several schools in a Gilbert AZ neighborhood were locked down Friday morning while police searched for two people suspected of breaking into a home and pulling a gun on its occupants before fleeing.

Gilbert police said two men about 18 years old forced their way through the back door of a home in the 900 block of Wanda Drive in Gilbert about 9 a.m. and encountered an 18-year-old man and 17-year-old girl in the home. One suspect pointed a handgun at the two but fled and the homeowner called 911.

The Gilbert AZ police are well known for their ability to find and arrest those who discharge a firearm within city limits. Some cities including Gilbert AZ use special equipment designed to alert them to the location from which a shot was fired. Random discharge of firearms occurs often during holidays, or other celebrations.
