Marietta, GA Beretta, the world’s oldest active gun manufacturer, is considering the Peach State for a manufacturing plant that could eventually employ about 400 people.

The nearly 500-year-old Italian gunmaker is said to be eyeing five sites in Georgia, including Upson County in exurban metro Atlanta. Also, Cobb County, home to handgun manufacturer Glock Inc., has drawn looks from an undisclosed gunmaker. Upson County officials are working an economic development deal code-named “Project Clover,” which is Beretta U.S.A. Corp., sources said. The county is working on multiple incentive packages to attract the Beretta plant.
