MESA, AZ  -  Mesa police said they captured a home invasion suspect who claimed to have smoked methamphetamine. before telling police he was being chased by someone with a shotgun. Curtis Phillip Archer, 23, was caught by police as he ran from the back of a house, according to a Mesa police report.  

A man called officers moments earlier to report someone kicked in his front door, walked into his home, told him he had a gun and then stood in his house while the man called police. The victim said he didn't see a gun, according to the report.

MESA, AZ - Two suspects are in custody after a barricade situation at a Mesa apartment complex. Mesa police spokesman Tony Landato said at around 10 p.m. Tuesday night, officers responded to a domestic dispute at the complex.

Landato said when officers arrived, they saw through a window, Mandy Fugua screaming for help and a man who appeared to have a holstered handgun on his side. Police said fearing for the woman's safety, officers forced entry into the apartment. Landato said the man, Daniel Gutierrez, drew his weapon and pointed it at the officers who then fired at the man.
