Portland ME – Armed robberies are on the rise and why citizens need to be armed for self-defense.   Police are investigating a pair of armed robberies that occurred within minutes of each other on Cumberland Avenue. Police said it’s likely the robberies are connected.

The robberies were reported at 9:50 p.m. and 10 p.m. In both cases, two men approached a victim and brandished a handgun while demanding the victim’s wallet.

The first victim a man, ran from the suspects while the second victims, two women, turned over items to the suspects, who subsequently fled on foot. No victims were injured.

Portland ME – Another armed robbery of an unarmed store clerk. Portland Police have made an arrest while investigating a robbery at a Portland Walgreens Pharmacy.

Police say the suspect first entered the Walgreens at 340 Allen Avenue, where a she allegedly demanded prescription drugs. Police say the suspect allegedly indicated a threat and referenced an explosive device, and then left with an undisclosed amount of prescription medication.
