Sumter SC – A concealed Carry Permit holder stops a robbery! An attempted armed robbery of a jewelry store ended with the suspect shooting himself in the head.
Sumter Police say officers were called to Galloway and Moseley Fine Jewelers for an attempted armed robbery.
The man tried to rob two employees as they opened the store. Chief Russell Roark says one of the store employees holds a concealed weapons permit and was armed.
Roark says the employee drew his gun in self-defense and pointed it toward the suspect. The suspect turned his own weapon to his head and shot himself.
Sumter SC – Store Clerks need to be armed for self-defense! For the second time this year, a store clerk has been beaten and robbed at a Sumter grocery store.
A man in his 50s was taken to the hospital after he was reportedly attacked behind the store counter and struck repeatedly in the head by a man wearing a ski mask in the course of an early morning robbery.
When the clerk apparently didn't respond fast enough, the robber reportedly struck him several times in the head with his weapon. The thief then took an unknown amount of money.
