GERMANTOWN, Tenn - YOU HAVE TO KNOW THE LAW! A student at Riverdale School in Germantown was suspended Thursday for bringing an airsoft gun to school, according to the principal.
In a note sent home to parents, Riverdale Principal Joseph Bond said "while there was no incident involving the airsoft gun and no evidence of intent to harm anyone, we want you to know this is a violation of Board policy. Weapons of any kind are prohibited on school campuses."
An airsoft gun is a replica firearm that fires plastic pellets using compressed gas or electric or spring-driven pistons.
GERMANTOWN, Tenn. Police in Germantown have cited a Memphis man for having a gun in a city park. According to police, 48-year-old John Lee Parker was fishing in Johnson Road Park when he got into an argument with someone playing Frisbee golf.
Someone called police when Parker was seen walking to his pickup truck, strapping on a pistol, and then going back to fishing. Police said Parker didn't threaten anyone, but was in violation of having a firearm in a park. "He did have his handgun on his person at the time we were out there.
